Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival

Yesterday I attended the Renfrew Ravine Moon Festival at Slocan Park, and it was a great way to spend an evening in Renfrew-Collingwood.

The artists and performers were incredibly talented, with live music, dance, handmade lanterns and artwork throughout the festival. Seeing so many people out enjoying the park really showed how much community events like this add to a neighbourhood.

I was also excited to see the work underway at Slocan Park. The new Children and Youth Hub will bring a renewed accessible playground, a multi-use sport court and a new skatepark, along with a rain garden that will help manage stormwater and create new habitat.

It is exactly the kind of investment I like seeing in Vancouver parks: useful public space for kids, families and young people, while also improving the natural environment around it.

Thank you to Still Moon Arts Society, the artists, performers, volunteers and everyone who brought the festival together.
