How We Handle Your Information

John Jones is an independent candidate for Vancouver City Council. This site asks for very little, and this page says what it keeps, why, and how to have it removed.

What You Give Us

Two forms ask for anything at all, and on both of them everything past the boxes marked required is your choice. That includes the question about which part of Vancouver you are in, which starts on Prefer not to say.

  • The contact form keeps your name, your message, and however you asked to be reached, and is used to reply to you.
  • The volunteer form keeps your name, your telephone number, and anything else you add, and is used to arrange help with the campaign.

John takes no donations, so this site has no payment page and asks for no payment details.

Counting Visits

So John can see which pages people read and which parts of the city to visit, the site keeps a plain count of pages opened: the page, the time, a rough area about a kilometre across worked out from the network, and a few general notes about the visit. No name, no address, no cookie that counts you, and one visit is never joined to the next.

If your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal, the count skips you.

Where It Is Kept

What you send is held in the campaign's own database, with a small number of trusted providers, some of them outside Canada. Only John and the few people he puts in charge of it can read it, and it is never sold or passed on.

Contact messages and visit counts are deleted within 90 days after election day, Saturday, October 17, 2026, or sooner if you ask. Volunteer sign-ups are kept for one year, then deleted.

Your Rights

You can ask to see the information this site holds about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. Write to johnjonesyvr@yahoo.com and you will hear back within 30 days.
